An approach to video art

This workshop is promoted following the Es Baluard's line focused on education and training on image and technology.   

The course addresses the transition between the first experiments of the moving image, from photography and experimental film to video. This is a introduction to basic concepts of language and ways of video art.   The aim is to enhance the critical gaze and to provide students with tools for decoding the works of video art. Thus, will be provided different resources and findings of the pioneers in the history of art, when the concept of time becomes a substantial element while changing our relationship with the image.  

Biography  

Nekane Aramburu, director of Es Baluard, has worked for years in curating, research and teaching in various genres which specializes, including electronic art. Highlighted exhibitions of media art curated by her are, in addition to programming Trasforma-Espacio (1992-2003): “Frágil. CCE/Montevideo” 2009, “B sides of Spanish videoarte”. Berlin/ Dakar/Bangkok / Seul/ Sidney/ Prague 2011-2014; “Palabras corrientes”. Instituto Cervantes New York and Beijing 2006, “Todo cuanto amé…”, Damasco / Dublin / Brussels 2007-2010, “BlueSky”. Fundación Telefónica de Buenos Aires 2009, “Epílogo”. PhotoEspaña/Instituto Cervantes. Madrid 2010, “La Rabia fundadora” Lima 2012, “GAUR (sic)”. London/Managua/Costa Rica/Honduras/Cordoba-Argentina/Santiago de Chile, among others.

She has both conceived and directed mediation platforms and numerous cycles and seminars focused to it, like "Generación digital" Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2003-2007, in addition to exercising her work as a teacher for curators, managers and artists in diverse university masters as well as specialized workshops and clinics in Medellin (2008), Montevideo (2009), Lima (2011), Bahia Blanca and Buenos Aires (2011), Havana and Bogota (2012).  

Her research highlight is Historia del videoarte en España (with Carlos T. Mori) Fundación Arte y Derecho (2008-2009).  

Editor and author of more than thirty books and publications, among which are: Caras B del videoarte en España (with Carlos T. Mori) AECID. Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (2011), Digital Narratives and Image Technologies. Ministry of Culture / Casa Asia (2011) or GAUR (sic) as well as monographs on individual artists.  

She has curated the exhibition "Reproductiblitat 2.0. Col.lecció MACBA ".
