Es Baluard presents in Madrid the book «El turment i l’èxtasi. Art d’origen llatinoamericà en les col·leccions de Mallorca, una revisió des de la contemporaneïtat» of the exhibition «El turment i l’èxtasi (The Agony and the Ecstasy)». The presentation will be given by the director of Es Baluard, Nekane Aramburu, the independent commissioner Gerardo Mosquera, and the collector José María Lafuente.

«The Agony and the Ecstasy» was an exhibition project that presented the evolution of Latin American contemporary creation to Es Baluard through its presence in the art collections of Mallorca.

Genealogy inserts its roots between conflict and aesthetics, political and social commitment and the evolution of aesthetics and thought in a distant geographical area, but, nevertheless, connected to the way we understand fractures of postmodernity.

The book that complements it, in addition to detailing the exhibition, includes texts by Gerardo Mosquera, who collaborated on the show, Paulo Herkenhoff, Ana Longoni and Nekane Aramburu. The publication has been made possible thanks to the Agència de Turisme de les Illes Balears (ATB) – Vicepresidència i Conselleria d’Innovació, Recerca i Turisme.

Among the artists of the project are: Allora & Calzadilla, Francis Alÿs, Carlos Amorales, Alexander Apóstol, Artur Barrio, Eduardo Basualdo, José Bechara, José Bedia, Ángela Bonadies, Iñaki Bonillas, Tania Bruguera, Daniel Chust Peters, Nicola Costantino, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Dr. Lakra, Leandro Erlich, León Ferrari, Regina José Galindo, Carlos Garaicoa, Mario García Torres, Luis González Palma, Federico Herrero, Alfredo Jaar, Roberto Jacoby & Alejandro Ros, Kcho, Guillermo Kuitca, Glenda León, Aníbal López, Marcos López, Los Carpinteros, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Jorge Macchi, Fabián Marcaccio, Marepe, Teresa Margolles, Jorge Mayet, Adrián Melis, Ana Mendieta, Priscilla Monge, Cirenaica Moreira, Vik Muniz, Óscar Muñoz, Ernesto Neto, Andrés Felipe Orjuela Castañeda, Damián Ortega, Cecilia Paredes, Liliana Porter, Wilfredo Prieto, Rosângela Rennó, José Alejandro Restrepo, Miguel Rio Branco, Doris Salcedo, Tunga, Sandra Vásquez de la Horra i Adrián Villar Rojas.
