Pepe Cañabate currently lives and works in Palma. He is one of the main exponents of documentary photography and social reportage in Mallorca. In 2008, he was a finalist in the PhotoEspaña competition, where he exhibited snapshots illustrating the process of his treatment for cancer. Cañabate has exhibited at Galerie Bernard in Cologne (2002), Centre de Cultura “Sa Nostra” in Palma (2004), Galería La Fàbrica de Licors in Palma (2005), Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca (2008) and Galería Carlos Roldós in Palma (2009). His work was awarded the Ciutat de Palma Prize of Photography in 1989 and 1990.
