Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma presents the exhibition “On anam?” (Where are we going?), a show curated by Sonia Becce that proposes a collective reflection on borders, migrations and identities and closes the trilogy of exhibitions about the Mediterranean context initiated by the museum in 2015.
The first show of the trilogy was “La Mer au Milieu des Terres // Mare Medi Terraneum”, exhibition curated by Cécile Bourne-Farrell. The following year, in 2016, «Waste Lands», by Piedad Solans. And this year 2017 presents the project developed by the curator Sonia Becce, who has conveyed, from works of a marked conceptual nature, new meanings and questions about travel.
Becce, great connoisseur of the work of Felix Gonzalez-Torres, whose proposals influenced several generations of artists, has investigated these issues to give rise to this exhibition device presented under the title “Where are we going?”.
Based on the work of national and international artists such as Ergin Çavuşoğlu, Félix González-Torres, Carmela Gross, Núria Güell, Paulo Nazareth and Walid Raad-The Atlas Group, “On anam?” Raises a series of questions about a Mediterranean immersed in unresolved individual and collective contradictions.
Political and social transformations that represent a change of global sign and question the idea of the frontier, alterations of identity models, as well as the management of the conflicts of a continuous present marked by migration and the diaspora.
The inauguration is on November 9, and can be seen from November 10, 2017 to April 1, 2018 at Plant 0 Es Baluard.
