Neil Harbisson was born in London in 1982. He's a visual artist and composer and has become the first person officially recognized as a cyborg. Harbisson has acromatopsy, an hereditary condition that makes him see in B/W.

Son of a British father and Catalan mother, he's studied piano and Fine Arts in Spain. With 18 years he moved to Dublin and the next year he's accepted in the Dartington College of Arts, where he studies composing and piano. Among his teachers,  Frank Denyer and John Railton. During his studies in England he knows Adam Montandon, graduated in Cybernetics in Plymouth University. They create the eyeborg, a cybernetic system that Harbisson installs at his head to perceive colours from the sounds.

The invention sends the perceptions to a computer which translates the electromagnetic waves into frequencies and them into music notes which Harbisson interprets as colour scales.

The Montandon and Harbisson's eyerborg has been honoured with the prestigious Europrix Multimedia Top Talent Award celebrado (Wien, 2004) among the 400 participants from 28 countries. Since then, the invention has been in various European festivals.
