Spaces for Art: Architecture of Museums
- Date: January 31
- Time: 7:00 p.m.
- Space: Aljub
- Free entry with prior registration
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Es Baluard Museu, we want to reflect on the containers for art. We must rethink the museum not only as a building, but also as a place. Starting from the main buildings conceived as centers and museums in our closest context (Fundació Miró-Mallorca, Fundació Toni Catany and Es Baluard Museu), the round table Spaces for Art: Architecture of Museums will discuss the relationships between contemporary architecture and exhibition spaces. To this end, we invite the architects, creators of the designs, to talk about the approaches when devising and creating a building that exhibits a collection, attention to the specificities of the environment, present and future challenges for museum institutions, etc. Activating the debate will be the president of the Higher Council of Spanish Architects’ Associations (CSCAE), Marta Vall-llosera.
Participants:
Patricia Klein*, architect Mateo Arquitectura (Toni Catany Foundation)
Rafael Moneo, architect (Miró-Mallorca Foundation)
Luis García-Ruiz, architect GARCÍA-RUIZ arquitectos (Es Baluard Museu)
Vicente Tomás, architect SCT Architecture Studio (Es Baluard Museu)
Moderator:
Marta Vall-llosera, president of the Higher Council of Spanish Architects’ Associations (CSCAE)
*For reasons unrelated to the organization, Patricia Klein will represent the Mateo Arquitectura studio instead of Josep-Lluís Mateo.
