BOOKCROSSING

Es Baluard joins on Friday 20 April the campaign of bookcrossing involving 71 centers and museums around the world, which will release more than five thousand books of different disciplines with the intention of flooding the cities with the reading tool for excellence. Es Baluard, the only center that participates in the Balearics, will release 15 exhibition catalogs of the museum and will place them in different parts of Palma. This is the second consecutive year that the museum is involved in this activity, which is part of the World Book Day activities. The campaign can be followed live at the museum's Twitter: @EsBaluard.

This campaign aims that readers collect books found on the street and after reading, place them in another location. All books released are accredited with a label, contain the instructions to facilitate the reader's participation in the campaign and are registered in the web www.bookcrossing-spain.comwhere readers can tell where have they place the book. The aim of this initiative is that museums, libraries and other centers help to promote reading and, more specifically, the dissemination of information of the different cultural disciplines.

Among the Spanish centers involved are: Artium (Vitoria), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Madrid), CCCB (Barcelona), MACBA (Barcelona) CGAC (Santiago), Joan Miró Foundation (Barcelona), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), MUSAC (Leon), MNAC (Barcelona), in addition to other foreigners such as the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), the National Art Library (London) and the headquarters of the Instituto Cervantes in Cairo, Tel Aviv and Paris, among others.
