Formatting Architecture 1:20 1:5. Scaled Program Fabrication

The results of the process of the workshop "Formatting Architecture 1:20 1:5 Scaled Program Frabrication" is displayed from 11 to 29 July. An open approach to the concept of 'the architectonic' took place during this workshop, when the figure of the architect is in an uncertain position. making relevant an inclusive and non-dogmatic approach to its work. It was a joint reflection that began in on 11 May, 2015 with a round table entitled "Pre-Formatting", carried out in Es Baluard's TAZ (Temporary Autonomous Zone) with Langarita-Navarro, Maio, Coke Bartrina and David Bestué.

The presentation of "Formatting Architecture 1:20 1:5 Scaled Program Fabrication" reflects the current research process, open open during this workshop and held from 5 to 11 July, 2015 in the COAIB headquarters. During those days, an international group of architects and architecture students developed possible scenarios for the GESA (*) building. They worked in a collective and playful action whose results are shown here, in the revival of that building, to be reformat.

(*) The GESA office, built in the 70s by the architect Josep Ferragut Pou, stands at the forefront of Palma de Mallorca, at calle Joan Maragall, 16. It became a controversial subject after its protection in April 2007 by the Consell Insular de Mallorca, and has remained abandoned and unused since late 2008, amid great political, judicial and social controversy. GESA is fundamental to the future development of Palma from a political, social, cultural, economic and urban point of view.
