To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Es Baluard Museu, we are organizing a day of concerts that includes Hidrogenesse. They are an electronic duo formed by Carlos Ballesteros and Genís Segarra in Barcelona, at the end of the 90s. Since they started they have made synth-pop, solemn ballads, kraut and glitter rock, dance music, chanson and false rock’n’ roll

At the end of 2023 they released their last album Ciutat de sorra, music created for an exhibition by the artist David Bestué, with the same title, in which the recent history of Barcelona is portrayed, documented and sublimated. In addition, they have been the architects of part of the soundtrack of the television series La Mesías directed by Los Javis. Hidrogenesse have composed the songs of the leading Catholic pop group Stella Maris, with religious lyrics and bizarre melodies.

As founders of the Austrohúngaro collective, they have organized concerts, parties, and created their own record label. After debuting on the Lujo y Miseria compilation, Hidrogenesse released their first single in 2000, Así se baila el Siglo XX. Between 2000 and 2010 they released three albums and singles, with songs like Disfraz de tigre, Fuig llop fuig, No hay nada más triste que lo tuyo or Vuelve conmigo a Italia. They toured concert halls and have also performed at the most important festivals (Benicàssim FIB, Summercase, Sónar). They also played in Gothenburg (Sweden), London (United Kingdom), New York, Chicago and Los Angeles (United States) and Mexico City, Tijuana and Monterrey (Mexico).

In 2010 Hidrogenesse collaborated with the Canadian band The Hidden Cameras. During 2011 they participated in Genius loci exhibition at the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona. They created Moix, a song and an installation dedicated to Terenci Moix. In 2012, Hidrogenesse published a tribute album to the English mathematician Alan Turing (1912-1954), to celebrate the centenary of his birth: Un dígito binario dudoso. In 2015 they published Roma and toured South America (Chile, Uruguay, Peru and Argentina, where they published the compilation Most). In 2019 they published Joterías bobas, an album with new influences and sounds (mambo, danzón, cha-cha, dub, popular song) that add to their electronic pop.

Hidrogenesse have also produced records for other bands such as: Feria, Espanto, Lidia Damunt, Single and have remixed Fangoria, La Bien Querida, Javiera Mena, Los Punsetes and Jarvis Cocker.
