This publication edited by Fundació Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma aims to introduce some lines of reflection on the most outstanding projects run in the area of education at Es Baluard, and to review and analyze social and educational practice both inside and outside the museum, employing critical thinking.
Using four specific projects with different collectives, lead by the museum’s learning team, professionals in this field have been invited to reflect on the topics emerged to give them a theoretical basis. The publication aims to be a tool of reflection for professionals of the education departments of museums and for everyone related to the collaborative practices’ sphere.
The four central concepts outlined based on the experiences analysed are: gender and representation; migrant people: creating a network beyond the museum; the elderly: learning from past experience; mental health users: another group within the museum.
The authors of the texts are: Nekane Aramburu, the Education team of Es Baluard, Alicia González Guillén, Sören Meschede, Carmen Navarrete, Ramon Parramon, Javier Rodrigo, Manuela Zechner.
Nekane Aramburu, director of Es Baluard and Eva Cifre, coordinator of the Area of Educational Development, Training and Public Programs of Es Baluard will be presenting the publication. The authors of the texts Ramon Parramon and Manuela Zechner will also participate.
