IMMESUREABLE LANDSCAPES

The "Sustainable Landscapes" project is a series of activities about art, ecology and sustainability. It's part of the Es Baluard's programme and aims to create links between culture, environment and sustainable development.

The workshop "Immeasurable Landscapes: Mini-gardens" is based on an excerpt from a Rainer Maria Rilke's poem: "If you get close to nature, to its simplicity, small details that are almost invisible, you can make they unexpectedley become something great and immeasurable".

A mini-garden or terrarium is formed by natural plants, put into a container and generating a small ecosystem. The selection, placement and decorative elements are very important since they engender new landscapes. Both the container and the contents must be in balance. Thus, the harmony of each element will highlight expression, colors and textures.

These mini-landscapes and the works from the museum's collection will be connected through this workshop, taking them as a reference and focusing on the concepts of composition, raw material and essence.
