SMASH ensemble is a "cluster" that reflects Europe in the XXI century. A formation that is enriched with top musicians all specialized in contemporary classical music, from countries such as Spain, France, Scotland, Czech Republic, Mexico, Hungary and Germany. From 2013, SMASH ensemble based in the Basque National Orchestra.
SMASH ensemble has performed in France, Lithuania, Portugal, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Finland, Mexico and Spain, in festivals and concert seasons as Musiikin Aika (Finland), ContemPuls, Meetings of new Music Plus 2011 (Czech Republic), Saison Opus (France),Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Monterrey, Festival de Música Contemporánea Música Nueva (Mexico), ENSEMS Festival (Valencia), Reina Sofia Museum, Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), Festival Nous Sons (Barcelona), Quincena Musical Donostiarra, Festival de Música de Alicante, Ciclo de Música Contemporánea de la Fundación BBVA (Bilbao), Gaida Festival (Vilnius, Lithuania), Ciclo de Música Contemporânea da Guarda (Portugal), Frankfurter Gesellschaft für Neue Musik (Germany) or Tchèque Centre, Fondation Suisse (Paris, France).
In 2011 three major projects were born reflecting the vocation to integrate different artistic trends in contemporary classical music: Pierrot Lunaire/Bunraku, a staging of the musical work of Arnold Schoenberg and Japanese Bunraku puppets; Lengu'entrebescada a cycle of poetry inspired by the troubadours of the twelfth century music; Academia Ambulante which, through various activities, transmits and teaches contemporary classical music to different structures dedicated to teaching.
SMASH ensemble alongside with the Festival Internacional SMASH de Música contemporánea are communication devices that belong to the SMASH Association, which aims to create and disseminate contemporary classical music.
