LASER GRAFFITI CONTEST

It's well known the current connection between contemporary art and new technologies. The laser has become a resource, used by different groups of artists. Participants in this contest, using a laser device, a projector and a program for this application, will make real-time compositions with giant graffiti on the walls of the 17th Century ancient water tank, transformed into one of Es Baluard's exhibitions hall.

This activity aims to bring science closer to people through an artistic and aesthetic vision suggested by the compositions of laser graffiti. Participants will have 5 minutes to project images suggested by science, the contest's main issue. The compositions of laser graffiti can have a musical accompaniment created or compiled previously by the author, if they want (see rules). This activity will mix the technological tool (the laser) with the scientific idea and the art-historical stage to create an action show, full of light and sound.

The event is free and aimed at everyone, and is planned as a show that allows visitors to learn the qualities of light and understand the scope and challenges of photonic devices in today's society, based on the projects and lines of the IFISC's research in this area. During the contest, the audience can visit the exhibition "The laser, an invention that revolutionized our lives".   Further information: Rosa Maria Rodriguez.
