MEETING WITH PEP BONET
Es Baluard holds a meeting with Pep Bonet because of the exhibition "Cabinet: Pep Bonet", that the museum shows from June 27 to September, 2013. This is a perfect occasion to learn first-hand the work of this recognised photo-journalist honoured with, among other awards, the Kodak Young Photographer (2003), Mejor Fotógrafo del Año 2004 (Luchetta Foundation, Triestre), W. Eugene Smith Humanistic Grant in Photography (2005), 2nd World Press Photo Prize Sports Category for the series «One Goal" (2007), 2nd World Press Photo Prize (2009), Gold Medal of the Mallorca Council (2012) and 1st World Press Photo Online short Prize 2013.
"Cabinet: Pep Bonet" shows 8 photographs from the series “One Goal” (2002-2007). The pieces of this research work by the well-known Mallorcan photojournalist are based on one of his long-term projects focussing on showing the consequences of the war in Sierra Leone, using images of youngsters and children with amputations caused by the RUF (Revolutionary United Front) rebels.
