MI MADRE Y YO (My mother and I)

Es Baluard joins to the Palma amb la dansa program, the commemorative event of the Internacional Day of the Dance 2009, featuring from April 29 to May 10 in different places of the city. The program is promoted by the Regidoria de Cultura, Patrimoni i Política Lingüística. Es Baluard participates with the show Mi madre y yo on April 30.

“There's a photo that shows my mother and I wearing swimsuits and laying on the floor, as a projection on a white wall. I come into the space and, after me, does my mother, who stays next to me, both of us together, one next the other. We make movements to express our anatomic differences and similarities. We make an easy movement phrase. Since a while ago, nobody speaks, there's no music. My mother turns into Tina Turner and, later, Nina Juggen. It sounds Kraftwerk and I describe to my mother a scene I lived once, me in a taxi listening to that music. My mother doesn't know Kraftwerk, she ignores if she likes it or not. She starts watching tv and falls asleep, not for real of course. I naked myself and when she open her eyes finds me so helpless and says to me : Sonia, this is too dramatic, get dressed my child. After that, we make more bunks during a while and that's all”.
