Susy Gómez proposes a systemic constellation, where the figure of the performer opens up to the public, making them participate in an action, from which they have not learned a role. Forming part of a deep creative act of exploration of the concept of masculine/feminine, linked to the art works “Ready to feel a Louise Bourgeois Necklace I and II” (2019-2020 ) present in the exhibition “Personae. Masks against barbarism”.
From the perspective of Bert Hellinger, creator of family constellations and directed by the therapist psychologist Enzo de Paola, the artist opens a space for self-observation, where you experience and heal our own limits. Thus, the exhibition room becomes a place for analyzing the subject in the system in which he is immersed, in which to identify unconscious patterns and systems, becoming aware of them, to allow the excluded to emerge and come to light, revealing a new look.
This is the second action of the performance cycle “[Comfort (Voyeur) Control]” linked to the exhibition “Personae. Masks against barbarism» which can be seen at the Museum until November. This program, curated by Tolo Cañellas, began in December 2021 with the artist Itziar Okariz and will extend to the opening months of the exhibition during 2022. A total of six artists and groups make up the proposal: Esther Ferrer and Susy Gómez, present at the show, along with Fito Conesa, Equipo Palomar and Antoni Hervás.
Susy Gómez (Pollensa, Mallorca, 1964) develops an autobiographical work, through different media –sculpture, installation, painting, drawing, video and performance–, in which everyday objects become metaphors. She has built her work from a reflection on identity with the desire to explore the intersection between art and spirituality, social action and individual identity, appealing to the position that the subject occupies in the contemporary world.
His universe, at a conceptual level, not only requires a spiritual attitude from the viewer, but also demands the emptying of beliefs, the dematerialization of the ego, personal history, responsibility for our own thoughts, feelings and actions, and invites the viewer transcend the social mask, to discover their identity and the place they occupy in the collective and individual consciousness.
