International Museum Day 2021
- Day: May 18, 2021
- Schedule: 6.00 pm
- Location: Aljub
- Free activity with previous registration
Coinciding with the International Museum Day, Es Baluard Museu presents a double publication related to the life and work of Rafael Tur Costa: the book The Light of the Fragment that collects the works that could be seen in the retrospective exhibition that dedicated the Museum, between December 2020 and April 2021, and which collected his work for the first time from the late 1950s to the present day. In addition to the reissue of the painter’s memoirs An Ibizan Boy During the Civil War, testimony to the harshness of the events experienced in the first person during the war and the subsequent Francoist repression on the island of Ibiza.
The Light of the Fragment also includes a set of materials that respond to two natures: writings made by people who have maintained relationships of a diverse nature and materials present in the aforementioned exhibition: personal documents, drawings and correspondence.
Es Baluard Museu takes up the motto of the International Museum Day 2021: “The Future of Museums: Recover and Re-imagine” and continues its work of recovery and study of key artists in Balearic and international historiography to relocate the trajectory of Tur Coast. This project expands the limits of the exhibition itself, in a set that recomposes an artistic trajectory linked to one’s own experiences in order to find new meanings and get closer to the visual arts of it.
They will participate:
- Imma Prieto, director of the Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma
- Rafa Roses, creative director StudioRoses
- Iolanda Batallé, director of Institut Ramon Llull
- Miquel Company, conseller de Fons Europeus, Universitat i Cultura of the Govern de les Illes Balears
