SANTA CATALINA. UNA MAR DE VIDA (A SEA OF LIFE)

During the 2013-2014 school year, students in 4th and 5th grade CEIP Santa Catalina carried out the Es Baluard's "Cartografiem-nos" project, which aims to explore the neighborhood where is located the center using tools of contemporary art. Specifically, these 51 students, of all the possible themes that emerged during the research phase of the project, have focused their interest on the following topics:  
 
 

  • Students in grade 4: in those shops in the neighborhood, with special attention to those that disappear and those to be installed, eg the changes taking place in the neighborhood.

 

  • Students in 5th grade: in the cultural diversity of the neighborhood from different catering business and gastronomy on one side and, the other, in the Santa Catalina market, one of the identifying features of the neighborhood.

All these issues have been developed and embodied in contemporary artistic languages ​​such as audiovisual, facilities… and used resources for participatory involvement and integration of different agents section of the production process works .  

This project culminates with the exhibition "Santa Catalina. Una mar de vida (a sea of ​​life)", which brings together the work done by the students with the educational team of the museum and the CEIP Santa Catalina educational community, and which can be seen in Santa Catalina Market (May 30 to June 3, 2014) and Es Baluard (5 to 12 June, 2014).
