Solar Nins. Music and art for low highindies
On 5th September, within the FES programme, Es Baluard will be hosting different activities for the younger festival-goers. They will be all related to music, play and creativity. The event will be organized by Arquitectives, a collective associated with the museum and dedicated to education in architecture and built environment since 2009.
THE WORKSHOPS
DJs workshop
Ages: from 6 to 15 / Lenght: 45 minutes (three groups)
What is a beat? And a pitch? And a loop? What are the samples? What about the gain? With the help and advices of local DJs, we will experiment with mixers to initiate us into the art of being a Disc Jockey.
Run by Méndez dj, Albert Cooper & Nacho Mut.
Percussion workshop
Ages: form 3 to 5 / Lenght: 45 minutes (two groups)
We will foster the sound and musical experimentation of the youngest attendees through different percussion instruments. They will develop a basic knowledge of rhythm and sounds, working from improvisation, composition and a research of own ideas.

Scenery workshop
Ages: from 6 to 15 / Lenght: 2 hours
Using different materials and techniques, we will design and assemble an installation to be placed in the child stage of the main hall of the Solar Fest, serving as backdrop to cartell bands. The construction will remain as a scenery during the festival on 12 and 13 September.

Concerts and dj sets
Ages: from 0 to 100 / Check schedules
And in a festival of music, you can not miss … MUSIC! Acoustic concerts of My Dear Flotsam and Toni Cobretti (The Last Dandies) and dj sets run by Méndez and Albert Cupper will bring indie and electronic music closer to young (and not so young) audience.

Pablo Amor and Cristina Llorente, architects and directors of Arquitectives, work on the disclosure of architecture among children and youth since 2009. Through educational activities and programs for individuals, schools and cultural centers, institutions, associations and organizations, they offer to the children the possibility of acquiring new viewpoints and a knowledge of the environment through incentives that enhance their creativity and promote their power of observation andthe development of their critical view.
Currently, they are the Spanish delegatesof the work group "Architecture & Children“, directed by the International Union of Architects.

The promoter Mallorca GrupTrui, a company with over 35 years of experience in organizing and producing major events and concerts in the Balearic Islands, has joined Primeros Pasitos (El Gran Salto, SL) record company and management of artists Pop / Rock International, active since 1998. Both are the perfect union for the success of Solar Fest.
