Tardor audiovisual a Es Baluard

Es Baluard has as its objective the analysis and dissemination of electronic art and the moving image. That’s why it continues programming and iniciting contemporary audiovisual production through various programs that have become essential annual appointments. International feature films, documentaries and short films can be seen in the coming weeks, with a special emphasis on supporting the Balearic audiovisual sector: Evolution International Film Fest, Bafta Shorts, El Dia Més Curt and the premiere of the documentary Dream Songs in Mallorca, Agustí Vila with script by Enrique Juncosa and Gala, by Sílvia Munt.

Evolution International Film Fest

Es Baluard collaborates one more year with the film festival “Evolution! Mallorca International Film Festival “. In the sixth edition, the museum hosts the Producers Club, focused as a meeting among professionals, to facilitate the exchange of experiences and projects between international and local experts in the film industry and also the Pitch Forum.

Dream Songs (2017)

There are still hippies in Ibiza. Since the 70’s arrived, they live free and creative, and they dream that their experience will be a stimulus for the future. A mosaic of voices and images about the radical experience of freedom. Can they say that freedom has lived? Can freedom live without releasing before political control?

Dream Songs is a documentary directed by Agustí Vila with a screenplay by Enrique Juncosa, which is screened at Es Baluard in the framework of the exhibition Gabinet. Eivissa-Mallorca: anys 50-90. Primera part, Don Kunkel i el seu context.

Bafta Shorts

Es Baluard, in collaboration with the British Council, will screen the final selection of the BAFTA 2017 awards, a selection of shorts from the best filmmakers promised in the United Kingdom.

The British Academy of Cinematographic and Television Arts (BAFTA) is an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes the forms of moving image art, rewarding excellence, inspiring professionals and benefiting from the public. In addition to its BAFTA awards, the Academy works all year round in an international program of events and learning initiatives that offers access to some of the most talented people in the world to workshops, lectures, scholarships, conferences and tutoring programs, which connects with the public of all ages and throughout the United Kingdom, Los Angeles and New York.

Gala (2003)

The documentary “Elena Dimitrievna Diakonova Gala” has as director and scriptwriter, also renowned actress, Sílvia Munt. It is a journey through the life of Gala, Dalí’s wife and muse of Surrealism. He portrays the controversial character from his birth in Kazan (Russia), his stay in Switzerland, Paris, or Cadaqués, where he met the young Dalí, until he died in 1982. He brings us closer to his personality through texts written by herself, by her friend Anastasia Tsvetaieva and her two hushbands: first Paul Éluard and later Salvador Dalí.

The realization of this documentary has included the participation of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, which has yielded photographic material as well as access to the museums of Figueres, Púbol and Port Lligat, some of the scenes of the film.

El dia més curt

Es Baluard returns to host “El dia més curt”, feast of the short film. Organized by the association Mèdit and taking advantage of the winter solstice on December 21st and, therefore, the shortest day of the year, the festival offers two days of projection of short films divided into blocks.

December 21:

10.30h Youth session “Junior Beat”. Short films for educational centers.

17h Round table “Dones de cinema”: different views of women that cover different facets in the world of cinema “.

6.30pm “Dones en curt” short films directed by women film makers.

8:00 p.m. Classic ACIB. Collection of classic shorts made in recent years by the ACIB (Association of Filmmakers of the Balearic Islands)

9: 15 p.m. 21: 15h “Perles”. Session of short pieces considered as pearls, selected by Marvin & Wayne and Catalunya Films Festivals.

December 22:

18h “ACIB now”, selection of current short films (2016-2017) of the ACIB, Association of Filmmakers of the Balearic Islands.

20: 00h “Curt Mèdit7”, selection of Mediterranean shorts of the latest edition of MÈDIT, Menorca’s Mediterranean Film Festival.

21: 15h FIRE !! Selection of short films from the latest edition of FIRE !! Barcelona’s gay and lesbian movie show.
