THE FLUX OF SEA

Varvara Guljajeva & Mar Canet Sola will be presenting the project that they have developed during their residency at CRIDA on the evening of the 9th of December (5-8pm) at the terrace of Es Baluard Museum.
The artists invite the audience to listen to the flux of sea. An AIS radar will be installed in order to receive signals from reachable ships in the area. These data will be applied to the composition of a score. Hence, the audience will be offered a sound piece that is continuous, unique, unpredictable, and at the same time, forwards the activity of local harbor.

In short, ‘The Flux of Sea’ is a site-specific sound installation that reflects upon the sea traffic of Palma in real-time. It means, the real-time score composition is affected by the invisible communication in the local sea.

Concerning realization, the electronic sound composition is made in Pure Data and communication between AIS-2-USB radar and sound score in Processing.

The project is sound installation, which one can join and leave anytime.
