The invisible city from the shadows

La Direcció General de Cultura with the “Can Sales” Library and Es Baluard Museu launch a creative workshop for children where we will reflect critically on our environment and project our ideal city. During the work sessions, the facilities of the Es Baluard Museu and the Biblioteca Can Sales will be visited.

The exhibitions “The Parallel Utopia. Dreamt cities in Cuba (1980-1993)” and “Let’s see if… Experimental Poetry and Mail Art in Mallorca” will be the starting point to discuss how artists have imagined perfect cities and how drawing and words can be powerful communication tools. Likewise, a selection of books from Can Sales library will be made available to children, in order to encourage this imagination exercise of how their ideal city would be like. Both the museum and the library will also function as workshop facilities for this exercise of collective imagination and creation of a narrative, which will finally materialize in a shadow theater.

This is a project for children from 6 to 12 years old by the artist Natalia Fariñas (member of La Lioparda Teatro). Participating children come from the Hadas Kids Foundation, the mission of which is to accompany and support Majorcan boys and girls who are at risk of social exclusion.
