VANBIG CARNIVALE - ES BALUARD

VanBig is back with a new proposal with the tattoo scene as its most prominent feature, as a form of creative expression and communication.

An experimental cross between gastronomy, music and tattoo illustration, which will take place on 2nd and 3rd September in the museum courtyard.

The culinary range on offer will present street food dishes prepared by some of the island’s most representative food trucks, based on some of the many tattoo schools that exist, like traditional American, Thailand, chicana, etc. A gastronomy event accompanied by concerts, workshops and a visual part centred on Handwritten & Spitshaded. An proposal for interaction between musicians and tattoo artists.

Based on a series of musical compositions, internationally-recognised, prestigious tattoo artists have developed graphic proposals that people can discover during the event. The participating musicians include American Grammy-winner Dom Flemons, Australian Emily Barker – performer of the theme song of the award-winning series starring Kenneth Branagh, Wallander -, Willy Tea Taylor – hailed as the best singer-songwriter of the 21st century by Rolling Stone magazine-, Joseph Huber – who was a member of the band that redefined American blues music, 357 String Band – and John Moreland, whose songs have featured during some of the most dramatic moments of the well-known series Sons Of Anarchy.

On the tattoo artists’ side, there are some authentic legends as well as some of the up-and-coming figures of the tattoo scene. To name just a few, on an international level, Andy Hinton, from the famous Diamond Club in San Francisco; Gre Hale, from the Rain City collective in Manchester, well-known for his collaboration with the Diesel clothes brand, and the Californian Isaiah Cummings. The Spanish participants will include Héctor Fernández and “La Dolores”, among others.

The following groups will be performing as part of the music proposal:

  • Los peligrosos gentleman
  • Sweet poo smell
  • Black cats
  • Rob corcoran & mike daly
  • Spirit family reunion

And also the BBC DJ, wolfgang yeh-yeh
