Irene de Andrés

Ibiza, 1986

Irene de Andrés lives and works in Madrid. A graduate from the Fine Arts School of the Complutense University of Madrid, where she studied a master’s degree in artistic production and research, her artistic creation is based on intense research processes, which she articulates in multiple formats, using photography, video or installations. Her work is closely linked to her origins since, as she herself admits, her place of birth determined her interest in the criticism of mass tourism and everything the industry entails. The artist has developed projects of reflection on this phenomenon, circumscribed both in the European context and in the Balearic sphere. Behind the screens (2010) was the winning work of the Premi Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert d’Arts Visuals 2014 award.
