On May 18 we celebrate the International Museum Day. A day that since 1977 has been erected in order to remind us that Museums are working all year long at the citizens servize. The objective is to be a living organism and to become a sounding board for our past and present history. This year from the ICOM (International Council of Museums) we launched a clear statement with a future projection: recover and reimagine.
From Es Baluard Museu we join this, strengthening our lines of action and our responsibility with society. For this reason, on a day like today, we present the catalog and the memoirs of Rafael Tur Costa, an artist from our collection with whom we inaugurated his exhibition on December 11, 2020.
Tur Costa left us on December 30, 2020 but his legacy, his work in favor of historical memory and his fight for freedom of expression will remain alive with us.
Following this trail, we sympathize with the call that the Colombian Alliance of Museums communicated a few days ago, as well as with the Movimiento San Isidro and Movimiento 27 de Noviembre, both focused on the fight for the freedom of artists in Cuba. Likewise, we support all communities and peoples that find themselves in situations in which repression and violence do not allow us to speak of respect for fundamental human rights.
