End of the presentation period of projects for the position of the Es Baluard's director

The period for submission of cultural projects by the candidate's to direct Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern I Contemporari de Palma finished this week so the jury will deliberate in the coming days which will be the finalists. The number of candidates concurring are 19.

Es Baluard also informs that the jury is formed by eight members, four appointed by the members of the Board of the Foundation Es Baluard and four experts. The jury’s members are:

  • The Government of the Balearic Islands designs Catalina Ferrando, Head of Department of Culture of the Government of the Balearic Islands’s Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities.

 

  • The City Council of Palma designs Antoni Pol, head of the Department of Culture and Sports of the Council of Palma.

 

  • The Consell de Mallorca designs Xisco Riera, head of Culture of the vice presidency of Culture, Heritage and Sport of the Consell de Mallorca.

 

  • The Fundació d’Art Serra designs Dolores Duran, BA in History, independent curator and art critic.

 

  • Daniel Castillejo (Burgos, 1957): director of ARTIUM Centro-Museo Vasco de Arte Contemporáneo from 2008, linked to this museum from 2001, firstly as curator of the Departamento de Colección Permanente y Análisis Artísticos. From 1989 to 2001 he directed the Sala América (Victoria-Gasteiz) and from 1985 to 2001 he was head-technique of the management of the Colección de Arte Contemporáneo of the Museo de Bellas Artes de Álava.

 

  • Rafael Doctor (Calzada de Calatrava, 1967): BA in Art History, directs the Espacio Uno of Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía from 1997 to 2001. Was the director of MUSAC, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León between 2002 and 2009, when he was chosen director of the Fundación Santander 2016, a responsabilty he assumed until 2010. He curated Noche en Blanco de Madrid in 2009 and Noche de Luna llena de Segovia in 2011.

 

  • Rosina Gómez-Baeza (Gijón, 1942): BA in Literature and English Philology at Cambridge University and directed Laboral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial de Gijón 2007-2011, the Feria de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid (ARCO) 1986-2006 and president of Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo (IAC) 2005-2008.

 

  • Javier González de Durana (Bilbao, 1951): PhD in Filosofy, he directed the Sala de Exposiciones Rekalde from 1992 to 2001 and, from 2001 to 2008, the Fundación Artium, Centro-Museo Vasco de Arte Contemporáneo. From then, was art director in TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes and from 2011, general director of Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa and Fundación Cristóbal Balenciaga Fundazioa.
