ES BALUARD 2010 VISITORS UP 16 PERCENT
During 2010, a total of 378,267 people visited Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma. This is an increase of 16% compared to 2009, which saw an influx of 325,239 visitors, 53 thousand less than from the January through December period last year.
The busiest months were September, with 51,214 visitors, and August, with 40,800. On the other hand, the day with more visits was September 16, 'Nit de l'Art', with 6,436 people, two thousand more than a year earlier.
In 2010, Es Baluard hosted the exhibitions: “Juan Uslé. Nudos y rizomas”, “The Sites of the Latin American Abstraction. Ella Fontanals-Cisneros collection”, “Dietrich Klinge. Transformations”, “Lou Reed. Romanticism”, “In Private 2. The unamiable option”, “Pep Llambías. Septem”, “Alberto García-Alix. Lo más cerca que estuve del paraíso” and “The murmur of the world. From informalism to the new abstractions, 1950-2010”. Furthermore, the America University of Washington hosted the exhibition “Animar.te”, from a collaboration between Es Baluard and UIB.
Regarding cultural activities, from January to December 2010 they should be noted: the series Fascicles Musicals, Playtime, “Celebrant la participació”, Mecal Air, Llunes d’Es Baluard, Festival NeoTokyo, ArtFutura, the Orquestra Simfònica de les Balearschamber concerts, the International Museums Day and the photo workshops given by Graciela Iturbide and Alberto García-Alix.
