Es Baluard opens the camera obscura designed by photographer Jaume Gual within the framework of 'Focus Puig de Sant Pere'

Es Baluard opened today a camera obscura inside one of the watchtowers of the bastion of Sant Pere. This device is conceived related to the exhibition “Reproductibilitat 1.1” and the project entitled “Focus Puig de Sant Pere. Changes and continuities in the neighbourhood” with the photographer Jaume Gual.

Camera obscura is an invention of fundamental importance in the history of the photography, an optical device that consists of a box or room with a hole in one side. Light from an external scene passes through the hole and strikes a surface inside, where it is reproduced, rotated 180 degrees (thus upside-down).

This project have the collaboration of architect Maria Sebastián. The maximum capacity is 4 people. This camera obscura is one of the actions developed in this neighbourhood by Es Baluard’s Educational Development team.
