ES BALUARD PRESENTS THE BOOK ‘Cartografiem-nos, projecte educatiu per a infantil i primària’
Es Baluard Museu d’Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma has presented this morning, during a press conference, the book Cartografiem-nos, projecte educatiu per a infantil i primària with the assistance of Maria Cristina Ferrer, Councillor of the Department of Education, Equality, Civil Rights and Sports of the Town Hall; Cristina Ros, director of Es Baluard; and Aina Bauzà, coordinator of the publication.
Cartografiem-nos, projecte educatiu per a infantil i primària summarizes the first four years of the "Cartografiem-nos" project, carried out by the Es Baluard’s Education Area since the 2006-2007 academic year and in which they’ve participated six schools (CP Galatzó, school El Temple, CP La Soledat, Lycée Français, CP Verge de Lluc and CEIP Escola Graduada).
Recognized in 2008 by the UNESCO Chair as one of the most innovative educational projects in Spain, "Cartografiem-nos" promotes reflection on the land from the tools provided by contemporary art. Through visits to the museum, exploring the neighborhood and the school days with the Es Baluard’s education team, the participating students prepare an art project that reflects on the neighborhood where the school is located. During the 2010-2011 academic year, the center that participated in the “Cartografiem-nos” project is CEIP Escola Graduada (Palma).
