FOUNDED THE PIACC, INTERNATIONAL PRIZE CONTEMPORARY ART AND COLLECTING

  • It 's founded the PIACC Prize which will annually aknowledge the work of an artist that breaks new ground in contemporary art.

  • There's no competition but an aknowledge delivered by a jury.

  • The prize is the result of the iniciative of four collectors from the Islands, and the involvement of the Es Baluard Foundation and the Palma Espai d’Art Foundation.

  • The award will have a budget of 20,000 euros. Each of the four collectors will provide 4,000, the same amount given by Es Baluard. The Palma Espai d'Art Foundation will publish a monograph on the winner and make an exhibition on him or her at the Casal Solleric during the next year.

  • The winner of the first edition will be announced before April 20, 2011.

Today has been presented in Es Baluard, during a press conference, the PIACC, International Prize Contemporary Art and Collecting. The award is the result of the initiative of four private collectors of the Balearic Islands, Juan Bonet, José María Lafuente, Mario Legorburu and Alejandro Villalba
and the involvement of the Foundation Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma and Foundation Palma Espai d'Art. 

The aim of this annual award is to give impetus to collecting and contemporary art and recognize the work of an artist linked to the Balearic Islands, whose work has an emerging value since it opens new paths in contemporary art. According to the award basis, the artist must be under 45 years old and must have been born, displayed or worked in the Balearics. 
  

The award will have a budget of 20,000 euros. Each of the four collectors will provide 4,000, the same amount given by Es Baluard, since the winning work will be part of the museum's collection through a grant from the Foundation Palma Espai d'Art. Palma Espai d'Art will publish a monograph on the winner and make an exhibition on him or her at the Casal Solleric during the next year. 
  

The jury, which will have a maximum of seven members, will be formed by a representative of the Foundation Palma Espai d'Art, a representative of the Foundation Es Baluard and collectors of contemporary art from the Balearic Islands. 

The first winner of the PIACC Prize will be announced before April 20, 2011.
