Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma presents the exhibition “Antònia del Río. Having the Castle in Mind, Carrying the Castle in Your Body”, opened to the public on 27 October.
“Having the Castle in Mind, Carrying the Castle in Your Body” is a project by Antònia del Río, curated by Pilar Rubí, which reflects on the social construction of the landscape, represented in the castle of Alaró. As the result of a stay in the village, the artist conceptualises an approach to an unknown place on the basis of narrative, experience and participation, through a multi-disciplinary body of work.
Del Río investigates among the inhabitants what the fortification is like and what images it generates in order to propose an itinerary of possible representations that includes drawings, paintings and digital reconstructions, among others.
Pilar Rubí explains that “the formalisation of Antònia del Río’s project gives a glimpse of the work process in which she delves into her lines of research: the transmission of knowledge and the connection between memory and oblivion. The artist’s action adds to the dialogue between people of different generations and the place, which configures a landscape that is also emotional”.
The exhibition is located in Exhibition Hall D from 28 October to 29 January 2023 and is in collaboration with El Corte Inglés and the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics.
