Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma presents «Lara Fluxà. MALC. Thinking Your Feet, Moving your Surroundings”, a project in which the artist creates a universe inhabited by organic glass forms that invite us to reflect on the fragility, tension and violence that human beings generate from their contemporary ways of inhabiting .
The exhibition, curated by Imma Prieto, will open to the public on September 16th at 7 pm., within the framework of the Nit de l’art 2021, and will be on view in the Exhibition Hall D of Es Baluard Museu from September 17th, 2021 to February 20th, 2022.
Furthermore, on the occasion of the Nit de l’art, Es Baluard Museum programs an open day with free admission next Saturday, September 18th from 6 to 11 pm. On the other hand, the Museum also organizes an exclusive visit for Members of Es Baluard with the artist and the curator on September 16 at 6 p.m.
Malc is an environment inhabited by different families, organisms and processes that are part of other moments and that, for the first time, coexist in a new space creating new tensions and realities. Verni, Triça, Lupra, Alump, Úra, among others, are some of the organisms to which Lara Fluxà gives life, following a long philosophical tradition that highlights the ability to exist from the name, from the recognition of being.
In this sense, their beings emerge from an extreme fragility, which is given to them through matter, glass, and also the one they breathe from their own exposure to the world. A fragility that generates tension and violence in space. Thus, Fluxà generates a scene making evident the fragility of the environment and the need for our understanding and attention.
According to Imma Prieto, “its spaces confront us with the world that humanity has created, a world for which, apparently, only human beings can exist. Its practice presents us with matter that acquires presence and makes itself felt. And, above all, it lets us know that our action counts: care or destroy”.
“Our presence can only be from care, the ability to listen and respect. To inhabit a space is not to possess it, it is to walk with awareness, it is to integrate through a permeable and dermal mantle. Contact requires proximity, it requires being within the universe generated after the only pact that we should generate, that of life”, she adds.
This project, which has the collaboration of El Corte Inglés, is part of the Es Baluard Museu line of action focused on the production of projects by local mid-career artists, in which creators such as Marina Planas, Núria Marquès and Toni Amengual have already participated.
