Aphorisms, notes and notes in verse by Andreu Vidal

The Clúster de Còmic i Nous Mèdia de Mallorca presents «Aphorisms, notes and notes in verse by Andreu Vidal illustrated by Max, Margalida Vinyes, Enriqueta Llorca, Pere Joan and Linhart», a project in which the concept of Graphic poetry based on the illustrations by the authors, which is included in the «Collectives in the Observatori» program for the 15th anniversary of Es Baluard.

The graphic novel format has become popular and has been assimilated by authors, publishers and readers, but there seems to be no place for short story, nor for unusual genres, such as what we might call graphic poetry. The proposal of the Clúster de Còmic i Nous Mèdia de Mallorca aims to take advantage of the museum space for experimentation and the development of this format still to be developed.

The starting point and axis of the whole project is the poetry of Andreu Vidal (Palma, 1959-1998), one of the most outstanding poets in the Catalan language of his generation, who died prematurely 20 years ago. The illustrators have worked from the notes in verse that are part of their work “Für Zamme”, with evocative images and a language purified, intense and full of musicality. From 1984 until his death in 1998, Vidal wrote these prose texts with the intention of experimenting with a format different from that of poetry, to account for his readings, thoughts and experiences.

The illustrations, created by the five creators – Enriqueta Llorca, Linhart, Margalida Vinyes, Max and Pere Joan-, experiment with the concept of the radiant graphic, which seeks to expand the formal limits of the illustration to other possible directions, in a proposal that goes beyond the usual page format of comic language.

There will be a publication, made expressly. It is a limited and numbered edition that will collect this hybridization between poetry and illustration, and that can be found in the Museum Store.

Curating of «Aphorisms, notes and notes in verse by Andreu Vidal illustrated by Max, Margalida Vinyes, Enriqueta Llorca, Pere Joan and Linhart» shared Juan Roig, from the Cluster of Comic and New Media of Mallorca and Karen Müller, an expert in the work of the author and legatee of his work.
