Cineastes illencs vol. 1: "Pullman" by Toni Bestard

With the screening of “Pullman” and the presentation by his director, Toni Bestard, we will close the cycle Cineastes illencs vol. 1, made up of four films by directors from the Balearic Islands that review the recent history of our cinema. The guests in this first part are: Rafa Cortés, Marga Melià, Antonina Obrador and Bestard himself. The filmmakers will join us to participate in the subsequent debate, which will be facilitated by the filmmaker Luis Ortas, coordinator of the film forum.

“Pullman” is a feature film that presents the initiation adventure of a boy and a girl who live in the Pullman apartments, a former luxury hotel that over the years has been transformed into a beehive-like building, where many immigrant families now reside. The children are neighbours but they do not speak to each other, both are from very different cultures. But on the first day of summer holidays their paths will cross.

Cineastes illencs vol. 1 aims to bring zero-kilometre cinema closer to a general public in a closer way, to generate links, and encourage active participation to promote dialogue and knowledge about the creative process in cinema.

Es Baluard Museu is programming the film forum in collaboration with the Puig de Sant Pere Neighbourhood Association and the Balearic Islands Filmmakers Association (ACIB).

• Synopsis: Two children, Daren and Nadia, experience an initiation journey during the first day of the summer holidays. From the Pullman apartments, where they live, to a famous nightlife area in Mallorca, a reflection of low-cost tourism, the children will experience situations that will accompany them forever on their journey into adulthood.
