Experimental Poetry and News Choreographies about Voice

Es Baluard Museu presents the Festival of experimental poetry and news choreografies about voice «Mira a veure si…». Poetry, music, voice and performance will meet at this activity linked to the exhibition “Let’s see if… Experimental Poetry and Mail Art in Mallorca” that presents for the first time the archive materials “Risc i Ruptura 1973-1983” which counted more than a thousand documents pertaining to 196 authors of diverse geographies.

The day will begin with a reinterpretation of the visual poem Asfalt sobre arbres? (1978) by Horacio Sapere, presented to the show. An action that plays both the time and the update of a problem that remains in force: the relationship of nature with memory and destruction. It integrates fragments of visual poems by Clemente Padín, Mariann McErlain, Pep Canyelles and Jaume Pinya. Performance action will be interpreted by Laia Martínez.

We will continue with Rates i cuques a performance proposed by Claudia Pagès, about a reading of the homonymous book. The text is one of the main materials that constitutes her practical by adopting different ways -printed materials, installations, sound lectures- it expands to generate a specific language that combines speech, orality and interpretation.

The third part of the activity will be starred by Bartomeu Ferrando, performer and visual poet, situating creative practices that integrate music, poetry and action art. Ferrando will bring to term the seva poetic performance Traços sonors.

The festival is very close to the presentation of the last disc by Barba Corsini, a musical project by the poet Eduard Escoffet. The songs d’Un nou fires will sound at the central Pati of the Museum.

Biographies

Bartomeu Ferrando

Performer and visual poet. Doctor in Hispanic Philology and Musicology and professor of intermediate art and performance at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. As a performer and poet, he has participated in festivals and international troupes celebrated in Europe, Canada, United States, Mexico, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Belarus, Argentina and Chile. He has exhibited both his visual poetry as poetics installations in various cities of Spain, Italy and France. He is also part of the groups Flatus Vocis Trio, Taller de Música Mundana i Rojo, dedicated to the development of creative practices situated between music, poetry and art d’action.

Founder of the experimental poetry magazine Texto Poético, he has published the essays books Hacia una poesía del hacer (1980), La mirada móvil (2000) y El Arte intermedia (2003), also various books of poetry and registrations in MC , LP, CD, video and DVD of poetic performances. Editor on experimental art: Poesía visual valenciana (2000). Art critical and assagist, among other works he has published El arte intermedia. Convergencias y puntos de cruce (2003). He has carried out many exhibitions of visual poetry and poetry-objecte since 1985 throughout Europe and has carried out hundreds of performances and installations, participating in various congresses and workshops on action art. Among its publications of art and experimental poetry stand out Libro de poesía visual y objeto (1979), Poesía procès (1998), Propostes poétiques (2002) and Jocs, poesía visual (2006).

Claudia Pagès

Claudia Pagès’s work is based mainly on text, publishing through print, installation, sound lectures and performances, generating a specific language related to oral language and speaking text. During the last years, Pagès has been tracking the new merchandise distribution systems and the gentrification economy.

Claudia Pagès is graduated in Fine arts by the University of Barcelona and has an MFA from the Sandberg Institute (Amsterdam). She has exhibited its works individually and dual in centers as La Capella de Sant Roc, Valls (2018), Paris Internationale, Paris (Cordova) (2018), Verónica, Amsterdam (2018), Yaby, Madrid (2018) , La Capella, Barcelona (2017). Among its performances and lectures stand out from La Casa Encendida, Madrid (2021), Perdu, Amstedam (2020), HAU2, Berlin (2019), CentroCentro, Madrid (2019), MACBA, Barcelona (2019), Les Bains, Paris (2019), Gasworks, London (2018), Sharjah Art Foundation, Sharjah UAE (2018), CA2M, Madrid (2017), RAI10 / Fundació Arthena, Düsseldorf (2016), La Casa Encendida, Madrid (2016), Moderna Museet, Estocolm (2015).

Eduard Escoffet

Poet and Cultural editor and professor of the Master in Art Sonor at the University of Barcelona. He is co-founder of the collective Projectes poètics sense títol. He was co-director of Barcelona Poesia (International Poetry Festival of Barcelona) and managed the festival of current poetic practices PROPOSTA at the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (2000-2004). He was curator, with Eugeni Bonet, of the cinema cycle Pròximament a aquesta pantalla, at MACBA (2005). He is co-author of the theater works ¡Wamba va! (2005), Yuck./Ecs. (2005), and La Belbel underground (2006), and author of poetry books as Gaire (Pagès, 2012) and El terra i el cel (LaBreu, 2013). He has published, accompanied by the electronic band Bradien, the albums Pols (spa.RK, 2012) and Escala (spa.RK, 2015).

Barba Corsini is the project of Eduard Escoffet and the musician Pope, member of STA i Foc, among other bands. It’s an electronical music project about voice exploration walked between spoken word and improvisation, in which they play between sound poetry and dub, between sonorous abstractions and pop, between improvisation and precision of calculation.
