ES BALUARD, INVITED TO PRESENT ITS PROGRAM FOR SENIOR CITIZENS IN PIENSA MADRID

Es Baluard will present tomorrow Wednesday, October 30th, its program GranGent/GentGran in Piensa in Madrid, the prestigious independent platform of evaluation, discussion and proposal, directed by Andrés Jaque and Ariadna Cantis, held at La Casa Encendida. Es Baluard will present specifically the workshop “Transitando por la experiencia a través de tus objetos”, by now carried out at residences La Bonanova, Llar dels Ancians (both of the IMAS; Consell de Mallorca) and Centro Residencial SARquavitae Palma.

The museum, which will be represented by educator Irene Amengual, member of the Es Baluard’s Area of Education and Training, has been specially invited to explain the program for the elderly run since 2011 and which new edition was presented last October 18. The issue of Piensa Madrid 2013 is indeed "Urbanizing aging" and aims, according to the organizers, "to promote discussion among different ways to treat aging and the intergenerational matter" and therefore "has collected testimonials, academic works, projects, agendas of organized platforms and activisms" around this topic.

GranGent/GentGran program is organized since 2011 by the areas of Education, Training and Cultural Action of Es Baluard and is carried out with, for and by senior citizens with the premise that this group has a lot to offer and society much to learn from them. This program includes activities designed to give a voice to the elders, hear their experiences, discuss topics that interest them, create links with people of his age, work with new technologies, interact with younger generations, with their grandchildren: that’s it to share time, values, knowledge and emotions.

A total of 800 people participated in GranGent/GentGran 2012-2013 and for the year 2013-2014 have been provided, among others, workshops with grandchildren and grandparents, an initiation workshop of urban agriculture, music-therapy and another based on new technologies.
