The object of the gaze

Jean Marie del Moral gives a master class, while the exhibition «El ojo de Miró (Son Abrines)», aimed to share his work and his creative lines. This is a masterclass for people involved and interested in Photography, with knowledge about it, from photojournalism to artist book. Del Moral will focus on portrait, the artist studio as a mental space and on photographers he admires, Paul Strand, Walker Evans, Arnold Newman and Brassaï among others.
 
"Es Baluard Image Research" is a regular programme of the museum as a training school that combines its master classes, seminars and artistic mission. While researching, creating and questioning what are now the image, photo and frame.
 
Jean Marie del Moral is a photographer in the classical sense of the term, with a prolific, intense career that started in the 1970s when he began photographing social movements in France, a task he continued later with the “Carnation revolution” in Portugal for left-wing newspapers. Afterwards he gradually worked on coming closer to the workshops and studios of certain painters he was interested in following an initial visit, in 1978, to the workshop of Joan Miró in Palma de Mallorca. Many artists who have openedup their studios to him over the years, turning his photographic archive into a great encyclopaedia of images showing the course of painting from the last quarter of the twentieth century up to the present.
